Penny is an expert in the field, having worked as a Financial Information Services Officer with Centrelink for the past 19 years. Given Penny’s background and highly developed communications skills, we are privileged to have her join us.

Penny’s many years experience and technical knowledge of aged care has provided her with the skills to strengthen the aged care team at Oculus. Penny’s role is to provide information sessions to the public, facilitate training for aged care staff and provide technical support to our financial advisors.

Well at least that’s what it looked like as the Oculus team boarded the Big Red London Bus to cruise the streets of the Gold Coast. The team quickly slipped into party mode while waving to passing onlookers. The bus ride allowed for plenty of time to sip champagne and enjoy a Thai entree, before arriving at our secret destination…..

After much speculation the bus finally stopped at the Elephant Rock Cafe, Currumbin. The excitement continued to grow as the red carpet was rolled out and we strutted our ‘Hollywood’ stuff into the restaurant to attend the official ‘Oculus Academy awards’. 

On arrival we were greeted with a delicious cocktail before participating in some ‘Hollywood Trivia’. Congratulations to Bec for taking home the trivia prize. Who knew she watched so many movies!

Following our indulgent lunch came the moment we had all been waiting for… the ‘Oculus Academy Awards’. The presentation had everyone in stiches as they eagerly awaited their well deserved Oscar.

Oculus Financial Services Group introduces sought after Aged Care Service

After recognising the ever increasing need for aged care advice in the local community, Oculus Financial Services Group has joined the Aged Care Adviser Network.

Joining the network allows Oculus to provide specialised aged care advice.

Phil Thomson, Financial Adviser and Director at Oculus recognised the growing need for this service and decided it was time to introduce an Aged Care Service.

“Increasingly more and more of my clients are expressing the need for aged care advice. Moving your loved ones into aged care can be a difficult time and our aim is to eliminate financial stress for our clients and their families”, said Thomson.

Australia’s population is getting older. Around 13% of the population is aged 65 or older. This proportion is expected to increase to 26% by 2051.

It’s important that families seek financial advice before the time comes to make the decision of moving their loved ones into aged care.

“I urge people to seek financial advice before making the decision. Working together with our clients we can create a plan to ensure a smooth transition into aged care; however, we can also react urgently should the need happen unexpectedly”, said Thomson.

Thomson believes Oculus is the first Financial Planning firm on the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads region to offer such a specialist service.

In the past aged care residents and their families were travelling to Brisbane to seek financial advice.

Lifestyle Manager, Michael O’Conner from Darlington Retirement Community is relieved to have a local specialist adviser to refer his clients to.

“Anyone entering the facility must seek financial advice prior to moving into aged care. Having a local specialist adviser speeds up the entire process and moves residents into their home as quickly and easy as possible”, said O’Conner.

Oculus has been providing financial advice for over 64 years. Oculus is a financial services group offering accounting, taxation, investment and retirement solutions.

It was a full house this morning at the Gold Coast/Tweed networking business breakfast. Entrepreneur and bestselling author, Bob Ansett spoke about his multi-million dollar international business and how he built Budget Rent a Car from scratch. Bob disclosed the ups and downs of great success and provided tips on building corporate culture and its links to customer service, leadership, motivation, marketing and management.

To start the breakfast Oculus Director David de Closey introduced the new Aged Care Service at Oculus. David explained the ever increasing need for such a specialist field on the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads and why Oculus will be offering these services in the local community. Oculus is the major sponsor of the Business Excellence breakfast.

The champagne was flowing as the Oculus team celebrated Bill and Bianca’s wedding this morning.

Bill and Bianca are set to be united this Saturday at the Saint Anthony’s Church in Kingscliff, followed by a remote ceremony on a nearby farm.

High school sweet hearts Bill first met Bianca in Pre-school and have dated for the past 8 years.

The Oculus team wish you a wonderful day on Saturday and a happy, healthy loving life together.
